FRIENDS OF THE CORONADO

Welcoming Diversity…Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

In collaboration, the Friends of the Coronado and R.A.V.E (Rockford Area Venues and Entertainment Authority) established a diversity, equity, and inclusion feedback group representing diversity throughout our community. The purpose of this group was to provide insights on what we can do to improve perception, reduce barriers, and ensure an inclusive environment in entertainment and programming at all facilities. Areas considered and discussed included viewpoints not only from a participant or attendee of programming opportunities, but also performers, staff & volunteers, leadership, event hosts, and promoters. Key areas discussed included:

BARRIERS TO ACCESS & ABILITY TO PARTICIPATE
MARKETING & COMMUNICATION
FEEDBACK & EVALUATION
PROGRAMMING
CREATING A WELCOMING CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION TRAINING
COMMUNITY FOCUSED EVENTS & ENGAGEMENT
TRANSPARENCY IN OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTNER & UTILIZE THE VENUES.

Friends of the Coronado and R.A.V.E. have publicly stated our commitment to create actionable steps in support of the pledges below through collaborative approaches and the establishment of a community committee, the EDI Advancement Committee (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion). Our pledges are as follows:

WE WILL SEEK PROGRAMMING THAT SPEAKS TO DIVERSE AUDIENCES.

WE WILL ADDRESS FINANCIAL BARRIERS TO PROGRAMMING.

WE WILL CREATE A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL BY PROVIDING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION TRAINING FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS.

WE WILL IMPLEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY MEASURES THAT WILL HELP TO ENSURE EQUITY IN CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE.

WE WILL BUILD TRUST THROUGH TRANSPARENCY IN RENTAL AND PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.

WE WILL BETTER ENGAGE WITH OUR COMMUNITY GROUPS TO ENSURE AWARENESS OF WHERE PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES EXIST.

WE WILL ENSURE OUR MARKETING IS A REFLECTION OF OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY, OUR REGION, AND OUR VISITORS.

WE WILL LOOK FOR CREATIVE AND FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE WAYS TO PURSUE COMMUNITY-PRODUCED AND COMMUNITY-FOCUSED EVENTS.

WE WILL KEEP DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION IN THE FOREFRONT OF OUR EFFORTS TO HELP ENSURE A WELCOMING REGION.
